These homemade biscuits are a great addition to your Thanksgiving table! They are so delicious, flaky, and have a great crisp on the top and bottom! As a bonus they are easy to make and can be ready and on the table in 25 minutes!
Ingredients:
-2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
-1/2 cup salted butter (frozen)
-2 teaspoons granulated sugar
-1 tablespoon baking powder
-1 cup & 1 tablespoon of whole milk or butter milk
-1/4 teaspoon salt
Next Step:
-Put the butter in the freezer the night before you plan to make the biscuits.
-Preheat the oven to 425 F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
-In a large bowl add the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir to combine. Set aside.
-Take the butter out of the freezer and grate it.
-Add the grated butter to the flour mixture and stir.
-Next, add in the milk and stir. Then use your hands to bring the dough together.
-Add the dough to a floured surface.
-Shape the dough into a rectangle and fold in quarters. Then flatten out and fold into quarters again. Repeat this step 4 more times.
-Reshape the dough into a long rectangle 1 inch thick.
-I used a circular cookie cutter to shape the biscuits.
-Line the biscuits on the baking sheet. (This recipe will yield 12 biscuits)
-Brush whole milk or butter milk on top and immediately put into the oven on the top rack.
-Bake for 16 minutes.
-Then turn your oven to broil for 2 minutes to get a nice golden color on top. Be sure to watch this step very carefully so they don't burn.
-Take out and serve immediately with a side of butter, maple butter, pumpkin butter, or jelly.
-ENJOY!
